Sustainability at work

At ML Hart Builders, we have a real commitment to sustainability in our work – in practice as well as in principle. In fact, we use sustainable building principles and practices as standard wherever possible and work with our clients to create homes with as little environmental impact as possible. We have achieved eco homes excellent on completed projects and are now working on Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 on a several projects, while Level 5 is already on the drawing board.

Taking a comprehensive view

We understand our responsibility to minimise the impact of what we do on the environment, and recognise that we can make a difference – both environmentally and socially - through the way we work.

We appreciate that learning about sustainability is an on-going process. We aim to keep up-to-date with new developments and are continually looking for new ways of incorporating these into our activities to maximum effect. Our all round approach already incorporate factors such as:

- Renewable energies;

- avoiding unnecessary construction waste;

- recycling and

- conserving water

into our total solutions. Training is provided for our staff and subcontractors on environmental issues and related topics.

Environmental efficiency

An environmental management system drives our efforts to protect and enhance the natural environment, while improving and maintaining the built environment.

To help us achieve higher levels of environmental efficiency, we use cutting edge design such as:

- ground source heat pumps

- hybrid solar/thermal heat pumps systems

- photovoltaic panels

- heat recovery ventilation

- timber frame and sip panel construction

- grey water recycling

We have other clear objectives, which you can read in our Environmental Statement and Policy and we are committed to continuous improvement in this area.
